Detox yourself in the most delicious way with simple, beautiful beetroot & cashew falafels…

I love cake. Like seriously love it. I love soft, squidgy, fudgy, damp crumb on my plate and inch-thick, sweet, buttery frosting on my fork.

I also love ice-cream. I love melty spoonfuls of creaminess with fat chunks of brownie, chocolate, nuts, cookie…well, you get the dangerously-close-t0-diabetes-if-I-don’t-exercise-a-little-self-control picture.

Then there’s cheese. Bread. And let’s not even go down the slippery wine lined slope, you know, the one with the chocolate pit stop on the way…?

Anyone else out there feel like a split personality when it comes to food? Plus, on a day like today when there’s nothing but an ocean of grey outside as far as the eye can see, these vibrant, Middle Eastern sunset hued balls of sesame seed studded goodness from the Detox Kitchen Bible are just the thing to bring a little sunshine to your plate…

I could literally eat it every day and not get sick of it and I’m so excited to share it with you because holy sauteed kale Batman, you are going to love it every bit as much as I do and you may even find yourself saying a little prayer of thanks that you took five minutes to read this post and expand your dinner repertoire.

The flavours are delicious – a completely addictive combination of sweet and savoury with balsamic tang nestling side by side with mustard heat and a gorgeous partnership of soft, sticky, caramelised sweet potato with earthy kale and nutty wild rice.

It’s simple. It’s quick. It’s flavourful and although you could easily serve it as a side to a beautiful piece of plump salmon or a protein packed grilled chicken breast, J and I have unashamedly taken the obsession to the level of eating whole platefuls of it as dinner…even as I write this, he’s sat beside me making yummy noises that are both endearing & understandable…
